A fervent reformist, Sir Francis Burdett was a 19th century politician whose zealous defence of the freedom of the press led to his imprisonment in the Tower of London for three months in spring 1810. This podcast, created for the Tower of London’s 2010-11 ‘Prisoners and Punishment’ display, explores the story of Burdett’s rise to superstar status during this most radical of political events.
